XRfolio vs. Behance vs. Squarespace for your portfolio

Behance is a free community where creatives post projects and get discovered. Squarespace is a general website builder for business sites, starting at $19 a month billed annually. XRfolio builds a 3D portfolio room you publish as your own website, free at you.xrfolio.page or $9 a month with your own domain. Choose Behance to be found inside the creative community, Squarespace if you also need a store, blog or bookings, and XRfolio if you want a portfolio people walk through and remember. Many people use Behance and a portfolio site together.

When Behance is the right choice

If you want to be found by people already browsing for creative work. Behance’s value is its audience, and nothing you host yourself replaces that. Post your strongest projects there even if your main portfolio lives elsewhere.

When Squarespace is the right choice

If the portfolio is one part of a business site that also needs a shop, a blog, appointment booking or a newsletter. Squarespace does all of that in one place. The trade-off is the monthly price and how little of the site you can take with you if you leave.

When XRfolio is the right choice

If you want the portfolio itself to be memorable, especially for spatial work such as 3D art, games, XR, architecture and product design, and you want a standalone site you can keep. You can start without an account, publish for free, and download the files if you ever leave. See what XRfolio is for the details.

Using them together

Most people do best with two: a community profile where people browse (Behance, ArtStation or Dribbble) and a portfolio site that is yours. Link each Behance project to your portfolio, and put your portfolio link on your résumé and LinkedIn.

Common questions

Is Behance free?

Yes. A Behance profile is free. Behance Pro is US$9.99 a month and adds Adobe Portfolio, which builds up to five websites on custom domains, plus analytics and profile customization.

How much does a Squarespace portfolio cost?

Squarespace plans start at $25 a month, or $19 a month billed annually, for the Basic plan. Annual plans include a custom domain free for the first year.

Can I move my Squarespace portfolio somewhere else?

Only partly. Squarespace exports a WordPress-format file covering layout pages, text and image blocks, gallery pages and one blog. Its own help center says portfolio, store, album and index pages, video blocks, and style settings do not export.

Should I use Behance or my own portfolio site?

Usually both. Behance is where creative recruiters and clients browse; your own site is where you control the presentation and the address. Post your projects on Behance and link them to your portfolio.
